Haebaru Club
Notes by Sonsei Nakamura: “The issei actively led the club until about 1950. At that time, due to the age of the issei and the emergency of qualified nisei, the leadership of the club changed. During this transition, the records were mislaid. The young leaders, unable to read Japanese, were not too concerned about keeping the records. Most of the older members have passed away and only a few original members remain. We nisei have had contact and communication with the issei so we were inclined to join the club. With the sansei, it is another story. They cannot communicate with older people and their interests are not the same. They don’t have the close feeling the issei and nisei enjoyed. The younger ones are drifting further and further away from the organization; however, we are trying very hard to get them interested in the club.”
