Pan Pacific Festival Parade

About this event
Hi all!
Huge thank you to those who participated and/or supported HUOA in the Honolulu Festival parade during March! Once again, we are now looking for volunteers to hold flags and march in the Pan Pacific Festival parade on Sunday, June 15. Let’s continue to show everyone how proud we Uchinanchu and Uchinanchu at heart are to represent our community!
The Pan Pacific Festival organizers are continuing to work out the schedules and details for participants. Once we receive confirmation of everything then I will be sending out updates, as needed. What is included in this email is tentative & may be subject to change.
If you or anyone you know is interested, please fill out the Google Form linked here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdOdRyR_ae5jw06Fri53oh8SdxV6hIpcyXBc_lSrL1JwixbQA/viewform
Here is the waiver form link to download. Please bring printed and completed forms with you on the day of the parade: 2025 Pan Pacific Festival Waiver
We kindly ask that participants wear a HUOA or club shirt with black pants/bermuda shorts. If you do not have a HUOA or club shirt, then that is okay as well. Uchikake (vests), purple sashes, and flag cup holders are available on a first come first serve basis. Please be mindful that the parade is about a mile long (Saratoga down to Kapiolani Park) so comfortable walking shoes or sandals are recommended. It will most likely be a hot and sunny afternoon, so don’t forget your sunscreen or hat too!
Assembly time: 1530 (3:30pm)
Staging area: Ft. DeRussey (Saratoga & Kalakaua)
March Time: TBD (waiting to hear back from Pan Pacific Festival)
We are waiting to hear back from Pan Pacific Festival organizers about shuttle bus pick up locations and times. But if it is the same as last year, the pickup points will be at:
Bus 1
– 1430 (2:30pm) p/u: Hawaii Okinawa Center (HOC)
– 1445 (2:45pm) p/u: Pearl City Recreation Center (PCRC) – unsure if certain
Bus 2
– 1450 (2:50pm) p/u: Jikoen Hongwanji Mission
If you plan to arrive in Waikiki on your own, be aware that they usually start shutting down the roads for vehicles around 1530 (~3:30pm).
Aside from flag holders and marchers, I am also looking for at least 3-5 additional volunteers: three bus captains (HOC, PCRC, and Jikoen) and one or two McDonald’s runners (this person(s) cannot participate in the march).
Bus captain’s duties:
– check in passengers upon arrival at your pick up locations & upon return from Waikiki
– collect their waiver forms
– take their McDonald’s order (Hamburger, Cheeseburger, or McChicken — no substitutions please)
– confirm if passengers will be returning on the shuttle bus from Waikiki
HUOA will also be giving free sandwiches from McDonald’s for participating in the parade again as well. Please be mindful that there will be no substitutions for the orders.
Thank you everyone for your continued support! We look forward to seeing you all there!
